Oxyvet 20% La Inj.

Description: Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, with bacteriostatic action against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms (like Streptococci, Staphylococci, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix, Coliforms, Salmonella), Rickettsiae, Mycoplasmas, Chlamydia and some protozoa. Activity against Pseudomonas, Proteus- and Klebsiella spp. is low. Applied parenterally, oxytetracycline quickly penetrates the blood and tissues. The advanced effect of this preparation is the extremely long therapeutic effect.

Type of Preparation: Antibiotic Injection solution

Target Species: Cattle, Sheep, Goat, Pigs

Composition in 1ml: 

Oxytetracycline dihydrate 20g

Excipient: q.s. 100ml

Indication: Used for treatment of  infections and diseases caused by digestive, skin, lungs, urogenitals, and septicaemic pathogens (gram positives, gram negatives, leptospires, chlamydias and mycoplasma).

Such as infections of the respiratory tract (pneumonia, bronchopneumonia), infections of the urinary tract, foot rot and Bedsoniasis in sheep, leptospires, Dysentery, shipping fever, gastro-enteritis, Mycoplasmosis, endometritis, mastitis, Salmonellosis and liver abscesses in cattle, pigs, sheep and goats.

Contraindication:

Not to be administered to animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines

Do not administer to lactating cows producing milk for human consumption

Do not administer to animals with severe impaired kidney or liver function.

Route of administration and dosage: 

For deep intramuscular injection.

Cattle, Pigs, Sheep and Goats: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight (20 mg per kg bodyweight) in one single administration.

Due to the long lasting effect of this medication, a single dose of administration is recommended.

However, depending on the degree of the infection, another injection can be given 3-4 days after the first injection.

 

Do not administer more than 20 ml of this medication at a single site in Cattle, not more than 10 ml in Pigs and not more than 5 ml in Sheep and Goat. This will reduce the likelihood of an irritation at the injection site.

Warning: It is better not to administer more than 10 ml to 20 ml per injection site, depending on the size of the animal, to be used with care on pregnant females and kidney insufficient animals.

Withdrawal Period

Meat and Offal: 15 days

Milk: 10 milkings

Storage: Store in a dry place between 8 °C and 25 °C.
Keep medicine away from children.
